    308 loads

So I am new to the 308 Winchester scene and picked up a Savage 110 tactical with a left handed setup 24 inch fluted heavy barrel. I was wondering if anyone had a general good load/bullet combination that would work or could send me in the right direction. Primary use would be target shooting and some varmint control.

There are tons of great combinations for the 308. I like 168gr Sierra matchking with either varget or imr4064

That's what I thought too. I was looking on the honady website at some of there rounds and found a few that might work. I need to get my reloading book and look at it too.

You might try looking into the hornady eld-x. Supposed to be superbly accurate and good on game too. I’ve never shot any but was thinking of trying some out of my 308.

I’ve tried the eld-x in my 308 but she doesn’t care for them. May need to try some different powders. She will shoot lasers with 168gr HPBT bullets loaded up with some varget

Mine will shoot sub 1/2” groups at 200yards with that combo. Been shooting that load for so many years I was thinking of trying something different. My barrel is a 1/10” twist, was thinking the 200gr eld-x might be fun.

I’ve only tried the 178gr ELD-X. Let us know how the 200’s work for you if you end up loading some! May have to give it a shot
